Oral Lichen Planus Lower Lip

Please note: These pictures are not of my current condition which is greatly improved. I have placed them here for those who might want to see an example of one form of OLP on the inside of the lower lip.

My wife has suffered with this miserable desease now for well over four years and has found nothing to reliably ease her pain. There was a time, about three years ago when she was in hospital for spinal surgery and was taken off some of her daily regime of medication, she is, afterall, in her late seventies, and was put on other medications to do with the surgery. Oddly enough the OLP vanished completely. At the time we were very much involved with the spinal surgery and didn't pay much attention to the fact that her OLP had gone. Of course after the successful spinal surgery the dreaded OLP returned with full vigor; we have tried to ascertain what drugs my wife was taken off, or put on, but with no success, memory, at our age, is no great help and so our "golden" years are from what we planned. One supposes that, in the fulness of time, there will be a cure, but there appear to few sufferers to make the disease of any great interest to the drug companies, were of course profit is everything.
